Welcome to Lodge Seacliff No. 202, a vibrant and welcoming Masonic lodge situated in the coastal suburb of Brighton, South Australia.
Since our consecration in 1958, Lodge Seacliff has provided generations of men with a place to develop lasting friendships, strengthen their character, and contribute positively to their families, workplaces, and communities. While Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest fraternal organisations, our lodge is very much focused on the present—bringing together men from diverse backgrounds who share a commitment to integrity, mutual respect, lifelong learning, and charitable service.
Our members meet at the Brighton Masonic Centre, located at 1 Commercial Road, Brighton, on the first Tuesday of each month (excluding January). Each meeting combines the traditions of Freemasonry with fellowship, education, and the opportunity to support worthwhile charitable and community initiatives. Whether a member has been a Freemason for many decades or has only recently joined, every Brother is encouraged to participate, learn, and contribute.
Lodge Seacliff is one of many lodges operating under the authority of the Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of South Australia and the Northern Territory. The Grand Lodge serves as the governing body for recognised Freemasonry throughout South Australia and the Northern Territory, providing guidance, oversight, and continuity while preserving the traditions and values that have been passed from one generation to the next.
Being warranted under the Grand Lodge means that Lodge Seacliff practises recognised Freemasonry in accordance with established constitutions, regulations, and longstanding customs. It also allows our members to visit and be welcomed by thousands of recognised lodges throughout Australia and many parts of the world, strengthening the universal bonds of Freemasonry beyond our own community.
Although our ceremonies and traditions are important, the true strength of Lodge Seacliff lies in its members. We are a lodge where friendship is genuine, newcomers are welcomed, and personal growth is encouraged. Our members come from many different professions, cultures, and life experiences, united not by occupation or background, but by a shared desire to become better men and to contribute positively to society.

A Lodge with a Proud Tradition
Lodge Seacliff No. 202 was consecrated on 4 September 1958, becoming one of the many Masonic lodges established to serve the growing communities of Adelaide’s southern coastal suburbs.
The late 1950s were a period of significant growth throughout South Australia. As new families settled in suburbs such as Brighton, Seacliff, Seacliff Park, Kingston Park, Hove and surrounding districts, there arose a need for local organisations that encouraged fellowship, civic responsibility and community spirit. Lodge Seacliff was founded to meet that need, providing local men with the opportunity to experience the principles and traditions of Freemasonry close to home.
From its very first meeting, the lodge has sought to uphold the enduring values upon which Freemasonry has been built for centuries: integrity, respect, charity, personal responsibility and the pursuit of knowledge. While society has changed considerably since 1958, these principles have remained constant and continue to guide the lodge today.
Growing Through the Decades
Over the decades, Lodge Seacliff has welcomed men from a wide variety of occupations, backgrounds and life experiences. Teachers, tradesmen, business owners, public servants, professionals, members of the defence forces and retirees have all found common ground within the lodge.
Each generation has brought its own ideas and experiences while respecting the traditions inherited from those who came before. This balance between continuity and renewal has allowed the lodge to evolve naturally while preserving the customs that make Freemasonry unique.
Many lifelong friendships have been formed within Lodge Seacliff. Members have supported one another through milestones such as marriages, careers, family life and retirement, as well as during life’s more difficult moments. For many Brethren, the lodge has become an extended family built upon mutual trust and respect.
Serving the Community
Freemasonry has always encouraged its members to contribute positively to society, and Lodge Seacliff has proudly embraced that responsibility throughout its history.
Although much of Freemasonry takes place quietly and without seeking recognition, members have supported charitable causes, assisted those in need and contributed countless hours of voluntary service within both the Masonic community and the wider public.
The lodge believes that genuine charity extends beyond financial assistance. It includes kindness, compassion, mentoring, encouragement and helping others whenever the opportunity arises.
Preserving Masonic Traditions
Lodge Seacliff is part of a tradition that stretches back many centuries. While the ceremonies practised within the lodge preserve longstanding customs and symbolism, their purpose is not simply to maintain history for history’s sake. Rather, they encourage members to reflect upon moral principles, personal development and the importance of living honourably.
The customs and traditions passed from one generation of Freemasons to the next create a sense of continuity that connects today’s members with those who established the lodge in 1958 and with Freemasons throughout the world.

Today, Lodge Seacliff continues to meet at the Brighton Masonic Centre, welcoming both long-standing members and those beginning their Masonic journey.
As society continues to evolve, so too does the lodge. While modern technology has changed many aspects of everyday life, the need for genuine friendship, personal growth and meaningful community involvement remains as important as ever.
